Appleby's Cheshire
Appleby's Cheshire

Appleby’s is the most traditional example of England’s oldest named cheese. The Romans recorded the making of Cheshire cheese on the salt plains of the north west of England nearly 2,000 years ago. The Appleby family refused to get bigger and more technologically advanced when everyone else did through the sixties and seventies. The result is a cheese made the old-fashioned way with an old-fashioned flavour. Flaky, crumbly but not dry. A clean, acidic tang but with a savoury finish. A classic cheese for lunch.
