	Durrus Made in County Cork by Jeffa Gill, Durrus is a raw cow’s milk cheese. Jeffa began making Currus in the late seventies. In the early days the cheeses didn’t stray far from the kitchen, being made over the stove and eaten around the table. When the neighbours tried the cheese they were so impressed they asked if they could buy some. Jeffa agreed and word spread creating a demand greater than her eight cows could meet. Jeffa now buys in milk from a farmer six miles down the road. “He is very particular” said Jeffa, a good quality diary farmer. The flavour of Durrus is milky sweet, the texture oozy rather than runny and is delicious.

Durrus Farmhouse Cheese
Durrus Farmhouse Cheese started with a large pan on the farm kitchen stove in 1979. Using the milk from her eight cows, Jeffa Gill was one of the early pioneers of Irish Farmhouse Cheese production. The first cheeses were sold to local shops and restaurants and over the years, as the cheese became recognised for its high quality and distinctive flavour, the “Durrus” has found new customers in specialised cheese outlets in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the United States.
