	Wigmore Wigmore is a washed curd cheese (not to be confused with washed rind cheese), which means a quantity of the whey is washed from the cheese keeping the finished item mild and sweet. The paste under the rind is generally soft and creamy with flavours varying with the season according to what the sheep are eating.

Anne and Andy Wigmore set up Village Maid Cheese in the late 1980s, operating initially from a converted garage in the garden of their small cottage in Riseley, Berkshire. Anne’s work as a microbiologist led her to try her hand at making cheese, and after about seven years she felt she had the process under control.
