‘Wine cheers the sad, revives the old, inspires the young, makes weariness forget its toil’ – Lord Byron. There is a wine to suit every taste, every occasion, every meal, every day! The choice, diversity and quality now available is better than ever before and though some wines will always command extraordinary prices, most represent very good value from the Old World and New World alike.
Styles of wine vary from dry, fruity, possibly sweet, to light, full, rich and complex, from serious sparkling to light spritz, from table wine to fortified wine. European countries continue to produce some of the most long-lived, multifaceted wine in all styles, whilst New World countries, like Chile or Argentina, have improved immeasurably the standard of their ready-to-drink wine to better suit our palates. On top of this, new wine-producing nations have been born, such as New Zealand. We have never had it so good!
