Burgundy Burgundy has been recognised as a great wine producing area for centuries. Kings, Dukes and Presidents from around the world identified both the red and white wines as excellent at a time when claret was as yet unheard of. It is a small area and as such cannot produce the amount that is sought around the world, making prices extremely high. There are 669 ACs in Burgundy, compared to Bordeaux’s 57 and it is only half the size!
