Grapes from very old vines such as these, give wines of precision, complexity, depth and elegance. As yet very young and will benefit from 5-10 years further cellaring, it is even now showing cerise aromas, and red berry fruit flavours on the palate. There is a mineral undertone, the tannins are medium and supple – a wine of great promise.

Domaine Fourrier Four generations of Fourriers have been winemakers in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin and the family has parcels of vines in all the most sought after appellations, a total of 9 hectares all told. Since Jean-Marie Fourrier took over at the helm, the Domaine has seen a great improvement in the wines and an enviable demand for them world-wide. Jean-Marie was able to combine his father’s and uncle’s traditional winemaking with the knowledge he learnt at Château Drouhin (in Oregon). His philosophy is to work with nature and to intervene as little as possible. He will not use vines under 30 years old, he vinifies separately and he only uses 20% new oak, all in an effort to ensure a true expression of the terroir.
