A beautifully grafted wine from 70% Syrah, blended with 10% Grenache and the remainder Carignan made by diligent winemakers and from 30 year old, low yielding vines. After maceration and fermentation the wine is matured in oak barrels for 12 months and the smooth, refined wine shows delightful spicy notes, red fruit flavours and silky tannins.

Château La Bastide Guilhelm Durand has 70 hectares in the Corbières area of south west France, growing Syrah, Grenache and Carignan and others for the red wines, and mostly Viognier, Roussanne and Bourboulenc for the whites. These old vines are low-yielding, grown on south east facing slopes of chalky clay soil with alluvial gravel and stones for the top soil. The wine-making and maturation is either in stainless steel or cement tanks and the wines show exceptionally good value for money.
