	Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie, Domaine des Haute Pémions 2003 Muscadet was the hit of the 1980’s but following a disastrous vintage in 1991, UK consumers bought elsewhere and are only now coming back. What they will now find is better wine at sensible prices. It is still a searingly dry wine, zesty and lemony but cleaner and fresher now and more complex when it has spent the Winter sur lie. Perfect with seafood, salad and wonderfully refreshing on a hot Summer’s day.

Christophe Drouard makes classic Muscadet from 16 hectares of vines with an average age of 35 years situated on silican around the commune of Monnières. The wine is vinified in underground glass-lined vats, with no malolactic fermentation and the wine remains on its lees throughout the winter. M Drouard does not fine his wine and only performs a light filtration before bottling. Almost every year, his wine is selected by the syndicate of Muscadet growers to represent the finest Muscadet sur Lie.
