The Dezat Estate is in its fourth generation and its current achievement is due to the man at the helm, André. He is both a local character and revered at the same time, known by his peers in the wine-making world of the Loire as ‘le p’tit d’ (meaning, the little god!). His two sons are both now very much in control in the business – Simon in the vineyards and Louis in the winery, whilst his daughters-in-law run a very efficient office. Their vineyards are split between five villages, some of them being old vines, and some oak is used for the red wines from Pinot Noir. The rosé is only made in small quantities, and, it being very sought after, we are lucky to have an allocation.
