Jurançon Moelleux Séléction des Terrasses, Domaine Larredya 2001
Pure peaches and cream! Made from Petit Manseng grapes and matured in wood, this must surely be one of the best examples of this style of wine. It is peachy but offers so much more - citrus almost lemony, honeyed but with a firm acidity making the wine rich and long in the mouth, powerful yet elegant.

Domaine Larredya Jean-Marc Grussaute’s family has been making Jurançon wine for several generations, both the Sec and the Moelleux styles. This is only a small domaine of only 8 hectares of Gros and Petit Manseng, 1 hectare of which has vines of over 40 years. The steep slopes of the eastern Jurançon area give the wines a cool, mineral quality which allows them to age beautifully. Jean-Marc keeps his very best grapes from the Séléction de Terrasses for his sweet wines, which are picked after the grapes have suffered from pourriture noble (botrytis cinerea) and are fermented and aged in oak barrels.
