Sicily is capable of producing excellent wines in the form of Marsala, as is well-known throughout the world, but now it is showing what can be achieved in table wines. Not only are they very good in a rustic style, but represent exceptional value for Italian wine. An unoaked, fresh wine, with very pleasant hints of green apples and pears.

Borgo Selene The Curatolo family have been producing Marsala wine in Sicily for well over a century. They also produce other labels with the help of wine-maker Alberto Antonini, including Borgo Selene. Selene is derived from the greek word for ‘moon’, suggesting the influence the Greeks (who brought the vine to Sicily) felt the moon had over the vineyards. The white is a blend of Catarratto and Inzolia, and the red a blend of Nero d’Avola and Nerello Mascalese.
