A wine that sells out ‘en primeur’ every year such as this one, demonstrates accurately the following it has. A blend of Merlot (82%), Cabernet Franc (17%) and 1% Malbec, partly fermented in barrel, this wine ages well. The blackberry fruit retains its purity during the ageing process and the wine becomes silky and opulent, rich and smooth with a balance of fruit and tannin.

Château L’Enclos Hugues Weydert has run this immaculate property on the opposite side of the road to the high plateau of Pomerol. The soil here is sandy, gravelly and flinty and the grape mix is typical of the area - 82% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 1% of Malbec, known locally as Pressac. Vinified in temperature controlled cement vats and then matured in barrel a third of which is new oak. The wine matures beautifully and is silky smooth, retaining a wonderful pure blackberry fruit flavour.
